Top Ten: Ways to Feel Good
1. Don't compare yourself to others. You are unique. You are worthy. You are perfect just the way you are. There simply is no comparison.
2. Stop caring about what other people think. What other people think of you, really isn't any of your business. They only person whose opinion really matters is your own.
3. Spend time with people that make you feel good. Lose the Negative Nellies in your life. Why bring yourself down?
4. Don't obsess about your looks. Instead, focus on being healthy.
5. Make a list of your strengths. You have many. Keep track of them. Add to them when you master a new skill.
6. Make a gratefulness list. Practicing gratitude can make even the darkest days more bearable.
7. Don't beat yourself up when you have a bad day. We are all human. Give yourself a break. When a bad day happens, move through it. Then, move on. Don't wallow in it.
8. Employ positive self-talk. For every negatie thought you think, replace it with three positive thoughts. Say good things about yourself. Say them out loud. Write them down. Believe them.
9. Understand your worth.
Someone asked me once, "How important is your grandson?"
"He's precious," I answered.
"Why?" was the reply.
"Because he is. He's special and wonderful."
"What does he do to make him special and wonderful?"
"Nothing," I said.
"You're right. He is worthwhile, percious, special, wonderful just because he IS. If he is that special just because he exists, how special are you . . . the one who gave his mama life?"
I am worthy. We are all worthwhile and special and precious.
10. Share your accomplishments. You don't have to be a braggard. Just share your good news with people who are important to you. Celebrate your successes.
