So, today, I want to write about the things that make me feel healthy -- mind, body, and soul. I encourage you to make a list of the things that make you feel healthy. Not only does this help you to see all the wonderful, positive things in your life right now, it's a go to list to help you stay healthy and young.

As I was writing this list, I realized that really being healthy is a completely independent set of activities. Other people can't make you feel healthy. Of course, doctors help us to get well, but I have to be the one responsible for getting to my appointments, for choosing to take my medications (or not), for eating right, and for getting up off my butt. Isn't that interesting? It's all about me! So, I wrote this little poem about doing things on my own. I want you to know that not for one minute has doing this on my own ever been easy. I have my children and my parents. I'm really lucky to have great friends and a supportive community, and there are very special people in my life. You know who your are. ; ) <3 However, I have been alone in those hospital rooms. I have been alone in my bed at night when I have been sick and in pain. Yes, it has been hard, the hardest thing I have ever faced, but I DID IT! I'm here. I AM healthy. I want you to know that if you are going through the darkness alone, I get it. Therefore, you are not really alone, because I stand with you. I want you to know that on the other side, I now know that not only is it OK that I have done life so much on my own, it's actually something that I'm really proud of. In so many ways, being healthy is being strong.
Solo
So, I have this dream
In the dream, I am a bird
A big bird
An eagle maybe or a hawk
And, of course, I can fly
When I'm soaring with my wings outstretched
I feel weightless, free, strong
I look over at a ledge on a mountainside
And I see the nest where
I fed and raised my babies
I see all the specks far below
All those lives flowing and loving together
All my family, friends, enemies
And I think
I love them
I love this place here in the sky
With the wind screaming
Below and through my feathers
I know I can swoop down at any time
And scoop up life in my talons
I am powerful here
I can make life, and I can take it
But up here
I am still alone
