Over the last couple of months, I have learned how important it is to listen to what my body needs. In fact, I have learned more about life in the last few months than I think I have in my whole forty-five years. Here are my top ten lessons.
Top 10 Things Cancer Has Taught Me
1. The people in my life are most important -- not my looks or what I own.
2. Listen to my body. It will tell me when it's hungry or thirsty. It will tell me when it's tired or I've done too much. It will tell me when it feels energetic and ready to push my limits. It will tell me when something is wrong and what feels right. It's really smart!
3. I don't always have control over what happens to me, but I do have control over how I react.
4. Expect good things. Often good things come out of bad stuff.
5. Don't put off doing things that make me happy. I can't change the past, and I can't control the future. Enjoy now.
6. Trust my instincts.
7. Be in the moment. Truly experience life instead of living on the periphery. (Although Periphery is a great band -- you should listen to them!)
8. Relax! Just do it!
9. I don't need boobs to be sexy.
10. I'm pretty fucking bad ass.
