Nothing stresses me out more during the holidays than trying to find the perfect gift for everyone on my list. Besides, trying to think of want will make everyone bubble over with joy, I also worry about the expense. This year, with being on disability, I am even more into looking at how to give to those I love. Really, it should be about showing your love instead of spending money.
But first, let me tell you about holidays without boobs. Have you ever noticed that holiday dresses tend to be form fitting? What the heck am I supposed to do with that? Someone out there needs to make sexy clothes for women with mastectomies. OOO! Did I just come up with an entrepreneurial idea? OK. My entrepreneur friends out there, guide me.
Here are how the non boob holidays are going. Today, I spent time with people I love. Got to see some friends, some kids that I care about, hung out with my daughter and my grandson, had pumpkin bread, and worked out (had to after the pumpkin bread). I'll be cleaning house next (freaking elf made a mess). My house is all decorated for Christmas. Maybe this holiday stuff isn't so bad after all.
In the meantime, here's today's idea:
Give handmade gifts:
I'm working on using some wine corks to make light/fan pulls. They are super cute! I have tons of wine corks. No, I don't have a drinking problem. However, I may be a bit OCD. I have been saving the darn things for years. I'll post pictures when I'm done with them.
Here are some other ideas. Create a memoir of memories you have with the gift recipient, write down your family recipes and turn them into a book, create a family calendar that includes all the birthdays of family members, create a collage of pictures/mementos (think concert tickets, graduation programs, party invitations, etc.) and frame it. Now, these are thoughtful and meaningful. No need to break the bank, and think about how much fun you'll have making these. Another gift that makes you feel good. Win - Win!
