Speaking of rebuilding, let me tell you how that's going. I'm three weeks out of breast reconstruction. I got to begin regular exercise this week. Basically, this means that I can walk. No heavy exercise and no upper body exercise. I still have to wear the torture bra. I got to remove my own stitches this week too. I know that sounds weird, but for some odd reason, my body does not absorb stitches. So, instead of driving all the way to Valencia just to get some little threads snipped, I was allowed to do it myself. I might not want to do that again. It was a little disconcerting, but hey. It's done and over with. My scars are looking better every day. So, that's about it. Not much movement in the recovery process. Slow and steady wins the race, though. So, slow and steady it shall be. Stay tuned to see what big things happen during week 4.
Shall I tell you about my New Year holiday? My lovely boyfriend who is learning every moment how to make up for our break up (Oooo! I'm just like Dr. Seuss!) surprised me with a gorgeous pair of polka dot shoes. Then, he drove me to wine country to enjoy an overnight stay at our favorite little inn. He bought me roses and took me to a romantic dinner out. The next day we went antique shopping and spent some time at the beach. Do we sound old? I don't care. It was a blast! We seldom get time alone. So, it was a beautiful time! Then, last night, we celebrated my S.O.'s bro's (Oh yeah. I'm still rhyming.) 50th birthday. A night of good food, good company, and dancing. It has been a week for celebrating.
I shall rely on these good feelings as I go back into the work force tomorrow. I have to admit, this is a really tough transition. I'm nervous about so many things. I still worry about my health. I also worry about having the energy to do this work thing. Wish me luck, beautiful people! We'll talk soon.
