Speaking of horns, all the Veteran's Day parades got me thinking, and I wrote this little diddy. (Don't forget about today's tip at the end of today's post, and don't forget you have to click on the picture to see the tip.)
Once Upon a Blue Sky
Once upon a blue sky
White cotton candy puffs billowed by
Leaving a snail trail behind
Orange blossoms' perfume clung to the breeze
And snowflake petals shook on the shade green trees
While sunburns rose from the gold dappled streets
Painted faces came jingling and dancing by
Under the wrinkled rainbow mask, a child was inside
Swing sets and chocolate chip cookies reflected in smiling eyes
Then rhythmic stamping feet
Candy cane stripes with white diamonds sweep
Rule and order marched in beat
The blare and boom of shining notes
On soft spring air the musical noise heavily floated
Out of the brass twigs wild misstepping abandon grew
Sweet pink fairies tiptoed behind with silver wands
Tiny fingers, blooming hearts, and free eyes in maternal hands
Magically moved together apart in a concentrated trance
A hundred swirling birthday cake lights flashed past
Sunset red and silver streaks rolling shadows cast
Sirens gray blare, applause, and passion
Then black tar as cold as ash
Littered with one day's stunning trash
The crowds moved away at last
Bright clouds shifted to a blazing golden eye
On dark wind hung the sweet stench of rotting rinds
Once upon a blue sky
