This whole Christmas without boobs thing is a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. My Christmas Eve rocks! It started out with a visit from a friend I haven't seen in ages. Dana owns Dana's Cookies. She makes the absolute best cookies in the entire universe! I bought 2 dozen of her cookies for my son-in-law's birthday. Dana is one of my inspirations. She had a dream, and she made that dream come true. One day, I will make my dream of being a writer come true. This is a promise. I'm going to put Dana's information on my resource page so you can order some of her bomb ass cookies. Go do it! Now!
So, after visiting with the beautiful Dana, I got to deliver the cookies to my son-in-law. I must tell you how much I appreciate this young man. No one else in the entire world could take care of my daughter the way he does. He is infinitely patient with Janie and her Bi Polar Disorder, he is a hard worker, and he is the best daddy ever. I love Tyler, and I am so grateful that he is a part of our family. Delivering his gift, meant that I got to see my baby girl and my grandson on Christmas Eve. Yay me!
Then, my middle child, Edmond (or Wo Wo, as my grandson, Kayden, calls him) took a drive to Tulare to pick up Janie's Christmas gift. Thank God for Facebook, or I would have totally flaked on her present. I am getting her a tattoo for Christmas, and I needed to pick up her gift certificate. I got to visit my tattoo artist for a bit, and damn! He is so freaking hot! Too bad he's already taken. Story of my life. In addition to visiting with that totally awesome man and meeting his son, I got to have some one-on-one time with my Edmond. I'm going to put my artist, Spanky's, information on the resource page too. I totally believe in his talent. If you are into ink, please go see him. You won't be disappointed.
Next on the list, building a fire in the fireplace, drinking a little grown up egg nog, and letting my kids (all 5 of them) open one Christmas gift. We'll do all of this as soon as Alyssa gets here. Alyssa is Edmond's girlfriend. She's taking the Amtrak from San Jose to spend Christmas with us. We'll also have my baby boy, Ian's, girlfriend, Rachel, with us for Christmas, and the boys' best buddy, Pedro.
I was just explaining to my mother that I have a charmed life. I have no idea what I have done to deserve such boundless good Karma. Why didn't anyone tell me that contracting cancer could be such a cool experience? I would never, ever, ever wish this on anyone else, but I have met the most amazing people -- people I would never have met if it weren't for breast cancer. I am extremely thankful for these new friends. I was recently told that people come into our lives for a reason. Told you . . . angels.
Who needs boobs? Not me! I'm having an amazing holiday.
Here's a little tip for today:
Have a drink.
You're going to feel some stress during the holidays. I know I've given you tons of tips, but there will be moments. I am in no way condoning getting shit faced drunk. Everything in moderation . . . really. There are actual health benefits to having the occassional drink. In addition to lowering your risk of diabetes and gallstones, having a drink can actually help you fight the common cold. Yep. I'm telling the truth. I looked it up. I'm fighting off the cold that my kids have had over the past couple of weeks, and I am kicking butt. According to a study conducted by the New York Times in 1993, researches discovered that drinking 8 to 14 glasses of red wine per week reduces the chance of getting a cold by 60%. Besides decreasing the possibility of dementia and increasing life span, a drink a day can increase your libido. Woo hoo! Plus, it can relax you and helps you let that stress go.
Let it go, amazing people. Let it go.
Happy Christmas Eve!
