Today, I saw the Orthopedist. I got a compression vest and a Lymphedema pad. The compression vest looks like an old lady bra. Not at all attractive. The pad looks like an angel wing . . . just one. I guess that makes sense. I'm not completely angelic, so I only get one wing. I am only required to wear the vest when I sleep, but it is better if I wear it all the time. Yeah. That's not going to happen. Any idea what it feels like to put compression on great big cuts in your chest where you already have stabbing pain and swelling? No? Didn't think so. Let me just say, it is not a good time. However, the doc says I will get used to it, and I will actually feel better in a couple of weeks. Whew! It would be lovely to move on to the next step in the process whatever that might be. Not loving the compression vest.
Now that the no boobs part of the blog is out of the way, let's continue that conversation about keeping the holidays under control. I love it that I'm learning ways to make this Christmas time less stressful as I'm writing and sharing. Seriously, you should try this stuff out. It's pretty darn good if I do say so myself.
Today's tip:
Do your shopping on-line.
I have seriously used the internet more this year than in any previous year, and shopping has actually been fun. Starting with Cyber Monday, I started ordering gifts. I found the absolute best deals I have ever seen. If you take a little extra time out of your day (set aside one hour each day) to do a little research, I promise you can get gifts with free shipping, discounts, and style. Each day, I shopped for one person on my list. It was so cool to take time to just think about that one loved one and how I could show him or her how much they mean to me. I am so extremely proud of myself for finding gifts that are meaningful and that I know my family will love. It was also really cool to spread this feel good activity out over several days. Honestly, I looked forward to shopping time each day. And I'm completely done with my shopping. This also saves time on wrapping gifts. Each day, I just wrap what comes in the mail. So, I'm getting a little bit done each day instead of having to spend a whole day wrapping stuff up. The feel good emotions that come along with the act of getting, wrapping,a nd giving gifts is being spread out as well. Love it! If you need great websites for deals, shoot me an email. I have several options for you, but I just don't think they fit on my resources page since I really didn't buy anything breast cancery for my family. That just seems morbid.
Peace on Earth, especially your slice of the world, my friends!
