Change is everywhere.
It's in our houses, relationships, and ourselves.
May turns into June.
Friends turn into enemies.
An unsure thing ends up lasting forever.
Scratches turn into scars.
Horrible turns into wonderful.
Change is what you make of it.
Out of the mouths of babes. Such a wise way of looking at the world at such a young age. I've been thinking about change a lot lately. Basically, life is about change.
It starts with birth. Whenever a new life comes into your family, your whole world changes. You become a parent, you become responsible for another person's existence, and you have to put someone else first.
All through the formative years, everything is change. Learning how to walk, talk, and how to navigate the world just means that you are learning how to deal with change.
Every relationship in your life is wrought with change. Going from being single to maneuvering being with someone else, sharing your time and space, and making the decision to love someone every day means that you are working through change.
Working and making money is a continuing voyage through change. Following someone else's directions, setting goals, negotiating work relationships, and learning new skills are all exercises in change.
Then, there are the big ones. When you fight an illness or hit those really tough obstacles in life, you are really battling through change. Changes in health, alterations in your environment, confronting hardships, letting go of your children so that they can grow up, and facing your mortality are all really reconciling yourself to the fact that nothing stays the same.
Even death is as simple as recognizing change. People don't stay here with us in this life. We don't stay in this form of energy forever.
Why does this matter? I want you to know that nothing is forever. Whether you are sick, sad, scared, or lonely, it will all change. This too shall pass. Just like we can't be comfortable, happy, at peace, or in love every minute of our lives, we also cannot be in pain, ill, afraid, or alone every minute of our lives. So, embrace the change. Feel every moment of the good and let the bad pass by. Let the change come and know that there is always something new to look forward to.
