Here's something you might not know. Writing is actually a family talent. My daughter wrote this poem several years ago, and it is helping me to move past the dark. I hope her words can do the same for some of you.
Change
Change is everywhere.
It's in our houses, relationships, and ourselves.
May turns into June.
Friends turn into enemies.
An unsure thing ends up lasting forever.
Scratches turn into scars.
Horrible turns into wonderful.
Change is what you make of it.
If that didn't help you see the light, here's one my dad wrote to my mom (published here with permission, of course).
Marie, you know I love you very much
So, why do you say I must not touch
Or when I try for a friendly feel
You make me feel like a heel
For although the weather is chilly enough for a coat
I'm still as horny as a two peckered goat.
Made you smile, didn't I? Well, my dad did. My daughter and I must get our writing acumen from my father. Thanks, Pop.
So, this week's blog is short and sweet, because I'm just not bubbly enough to open up any more than this. I have many more things to tell you about. Like my upcoming surgery on Tuesday and my sighting of a red tailed hawk right here in the middle of town. You'll just have to come back and read about these things next time.
Until then, keep smiling even if you're smiling through your tears.
